Connelly visited Bob Moses and the Algebra Project at Miami Northwestern High School in the Miami-Dade School District earlier this summer. We are fortunate to partner with Florida International University in our work at Miami Northwestern HS, which is one of several Math Cohort High School sites around the country serving students previously performing in the lowest quartile on standardized exams.

The program, supported in part by a National Science Foundation, Discovery Research K-12 award, seeks to ensure that students in the lowest quartile are prepared to graduate on-time in 4 years, ready to do college math for college credit. Currently additional locations include Los Angeles, CA; Eldorado, IL; Mansfield, OH; Ypsilanti, MI; South Bronx, NY.

Our relationships with institutions and organizations like these are a key feature of our intentionally decentralized, local and national networking strategy to leverage greater support for mathematics literacy work.
